Mammoth Moments in Miniature: May 1 to May 8
Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes a blood drive hosted by Amherst Hillel and Baystate Health, the drop-off of Boomerang storage boxes, and the annual Emily Dickinson Poetry Walk.
Amherst Hillel x Baystate Health Blood Drive
On May 7, Amherst Hillel will be hosting its biannual blood drive in partnership with Baystate Health. Students will have the opportunity to save up to two lives by donating blood. Snacks, juice, and water will be provided. Registration is required.
Boomerang Box Drop-Off
On Thursday, May 8, Boomerang will be dropping off boxes and packing tape at various locations across campus. Boxes will be present at Plimpton House Parking lot from 9 to 9:30 a.m., on the First Year Quad from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., at the Morris Pratt Driveway from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and at the Greenways from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m. Extra boxes can be obtained at the Office of Community Living at 38 Woodside Avenue.
Emily Dickinson Poetry Walk
The Emily Dickinson Museum will be hosting the annual Poetry Walk through downtown Amherst on May 10 to commemorate the 139th anniversary of Emily Dickinson’s death. This year’s Poetry Walk will celebrate the opening of the newly reconstructed carriage house and includes stops that are significant to Amherst’s cultural landscape and Emily Dickinson herself. The walk will end at 12:00 p.m., where there will be a lemonade toast and poems will be read at Dickinson’s grave in West Cemetery. Registration is required.
